Boost Question

I have just a quick question about boost. I just put the HX-40 on about 2 days ago. Supposed to be wastegated somewhere around 40 psi. I have seen about 32 psi of boost so far, with the mods in my sig. Does that seem low to anyone? I kinda expected more. I have checked all the clamps. It doesn't smoke too much, so I don't know if it is a boost leak somewhere else or what. The truck runs and drives good, seems to have good power to me, fuel pressure is better than 8 pounds at WOT. Any Ideas?
Thanks,
Luke

Disable the wastegate and see if that makes a difference. If it doesn't you probably have a leak in a boot somewhere.
You definetly have enough fuel to push that turbo further than 32 psi.

Whats the best way to disable the wastegate? In your opinions? The last turbo I had was a hybrid and it would only get up to about the same boost. It wasn't wastegated.

Block the port that actuates the wastegate. I'm asuming that your turbo has a rubber line from the compressor housing to the wastegate actuator, if so just dissconnect it from the actuator, bend it in half and put a zip tie on it to hold it pinched off.
Some guy's have put a .22 cal shell in the hose to plug it, but anything that you can do to keep pressure from opening the wastegate as well as not creating a leak at the line will work.

I used a small pair of vice grips to pinck the hose off. works great.

There are many different HX-40 compressor and turbine housings out there. Where did you get it and what size housings? 32 psi could be right if your HX-40 was a special deal...not from one of the usually CTD suppliers?

If turbo was lattest addition, What boost did you have from your set up before? What I'm thinking is, it could be a malfunction in the Edge Comp?

On 5x5, I would expect you to be able to push 50 psi on a PDR HX-40...or one from HTT.

I bought it from a guy that works at a reputable diesel performance shop. It is a Diesel Dynamics turbo, just rebuilt. I had a HTT hybrid 40/35 before and it did the same thing. I was kinda thinking it might be a problem with the comp myself. Would it have the ability to do that? Its like it his a wastegate at about 30 pounds. I disabled the wastegate using the vise-grip method and no change. I did get it up to 35 one time with the hybrid. It wasn't even at WOT but I rolled it on pretty hard. Today I put a boost fooler in between the comp and the map sensor and everything remained the same. Thanks again.

Do you know anyone with another Comp that you could plug in and try? It sounds like the fueling just isn't there to boost over 30 psi......what happens to boost when you turn the Comp off?

a little less boost. I called the diesel shop today and they told me that as long as my egts weren't unusually high, all was well. My egts are ok so I guess no worrys. Guess i need some more fuel.
