boost gauge

Is it possible to ruin a boost gauge that only goes to 35 psi if your making something like 40 to 45 psi?

because my gauge is only showing that i'm making 25 psi and thats what i made at stock and i'm wondering if there is something else wrong with my truck but it still pulls really hard so i was wondering if it might be the gauge so i got a new one on order that goes to 60 psi i just wanted to know what ya'll thought.
Thanks

I think you might have a boost leak. Are the EGT's still OK? Making more smoke than usual?

The boots between the intercooler and the boost piping are a common trouble spot. They can be torn or the the clamps can be loose.

Most times when a mechanical gauge is exposed to pressures beyond it's range it won't return to zero. Pretty obvious when one goes bad.
You may not have had a situation where your engine needed to reach the full boost it's capable of. Most times it takes a hill and load combined with a heavy foot to reach max.
Other boost leak sources are where the air horn attaches to the manifold and where the intercooler cooling fins attach on each end.
