Boost Fooler or Elbow

What's the difference between the two?
Which one should I get?
Where do I get one?

The elbow is at the turbo and will increase the amount of boost before it wastegates depending on how far it is cranked in. The fooler is usually part of a fueling box which sends a phony signal to the ECM to allow you to overfuel.

The elbow can be purchased individually for about $12, but the fooler is usually part of the fueling box package which can range anywhere from $400-$900.

If you just get the elbow it will allow the turbo to make more boost, but the ECM will back out the fuel and you will lean out the truck. Get both, you won't be disappointed!

CODODGE2500MAN, I asked the same thing last week like Phox said. It is currently on page 5 of this forum. Or you could do a search for boost fooler/elbow or both. It should point you in the right direction. I just ordered mine from the site Phox gave you.

Is there a boost fooler in the edge comp? I'm thinking of getting that, so maybe i should just hang on and buy that?

Yes, both the Edge EZ and Edge Comp have a built in boost fooler.

The Comp comes with the elbow, but you can't use it with the Auto trans. Only the M/T trucks can use the elbow.

I used a homemade turnbuckle to increase boost. Search under turnbuckle for info.

I admit to being confused as to what a boost fooler and elbow was but this thread has been great for educating me. It sounds like I need or at least want one.
I have a 2002 h.o. 6 spd that I have added 4 in" mbrp exhaust, and a Van Akaan box. I don't think it has a boost fooler. It is an older box I bought it used from a friend who had it on a 1999. It has one plug that plugs inline into the vp44.
Anyway I have looked on all the websites listed in the links section here and could not find any boost foolers or elbows.
So where do I go or what do I need?

After a very short search, I found one place that sells the standalone boost fooler

http://www.usdieselparts.com/1055921.cfm

If you Van Akaan box doesn't plug inline between the MAP Sensor and it's plut, then it doesn't have a boost fooler.

As to a boost elbow, you can get one directly from Edge (www.edgeproducts.com), just give them a call, or do the turnbuckle method mentioned above.

Thanks, I checked it out and it says that the boost fooler has an orifice to put n line with the waste gate, does this mean I don't need the elbow with this boost fooler?

Also one other thing I am not too sure about reading all the other posts. Will I see a performance increase with these two mods alone with the upgrades I have so far, or is it mostly to keep egt's down? Because I don't have a problem with my egt's right now.

So is this more for people with lots of hp and bombs or will those of us with light mods/bombs feel/notice a difference in seat of the pants power?

Thanks for your help

Came across this while checking out some classified ads. Maybe it will be useful to somebody.
