Adjustable Boost Elbow and Boost fooler
Adjustable Boost Elbow and Boost fooler
I've been searching the forum, but can't find info related to my vehicle.
I have a 2004 (not a 2004.5) Ram 2500 5.9L. I tow a 28 foot fifth-wheel and would like to add a boost fooler to my motor. I've seen a "very limited selection" of electronic tuners for the 2004 version....I've also seen adjustable boost elbows for the 2004. I've been told that I need both products to avoid issues
Can anyone tell me if adding an adjustable Boost Elbow and a "DB Diesel Boost Fooler" is a good set-up for the 2004 5.9L? "DB Boost Fooler" seems to be the only one out there for the 2004.....If not, what would you recommend for the 2004?
Thanks in advance for your help. I really appreciate it!

The tuners for the most part in the programming (like smarty for instance) will take the place of a boost fooler and render it unnecessary.
The boost elbow is a good and handy little device for you. It will restrict the air going to the wastegate activation bellows. If you make and tune it properly, you can adjust the elbow to the desired opening pressure. I would recommend no higher than 28 psi with that HE 341 turbo.
Both products are needed to work together. With the elbow alone, you are likely to set overboost codes. A boost fooler alone does nothing for you. A smarty jr with the elbow is the best ticket. Also highest cost though.
The elbow costs $2-3 and 15 minutes to make yourself if you have the drill and tap already.
