air cleaner for a 24v

Hi, I am a proud new owner of a 2001 cummins 24v and would like to replace the air box. It has a hairline crack in it (not enough to let dust through, but its there and it bothers me). What are the best options out there to replace the box? Should I just get another stock one form a JY or go aftermarket? Dont want to spend a whole lot of money, but any suggestions are appreciated. It has some banks stuff on it (exhaust, high ram thing, and some sort of chip).

I am going to replace my BHAF with a S and B system. They draw air from the stock location rather than under the hood. According to their tests they have a higher level of filtration and flow more than others. Priced right too.

I've been looking at either the S&B intake or one called Icebox.

I got the AFE stage 2. The fit and installation are pretty good. If you search for them on fleabay, you will find a couple places that have them for pretty good prices.

Check this item number on fleabay 330151884169. that is the cheapest I have ever seen for the afe stage 2 with the pro dry filter. It's less than what I paid and I thought I got a good deal.

One thing for sure, you can hear the turbo whistle quite a bit more with the AFE filter.

Unless you are going to seriuosly add more mods, I would get anothet stock box and add a K&N. That will get you at least 80% of the rest. K&N is controversial on this site, some love em, some hate em. I have had no problems, tubo is always clean at oil change time.
The stock location draws outside air & is well protected from the elements. Perhaps these other soltions are OK, but they look to me like weather/rain/snow may be an issue. It is hard to beat K&N for the money, at least if you are happy with it.
My $02!

Does that filter go on the turbo or the end of the tube to the air box.

Just recently removed the stock box/K&N filter even after "swiss cheesing" the stock box. It seems the oil was being sucked out of the K&N into the turbo...not a good thing. Probably the cheapest and easiest upgrade out there $79. I Installed amsoil dry airfilter ID 4.5 on to pvc 4.5OD and into the stock turbo intake. You can go one step further and build a heatshield also. Turbo "seems" to spool up faster and overall breathe easier. Just my .02 and I wasn't going to drop $250+ on a filter system made up of $100 in parts. All are good ideas just go w/what you can afford and works best w/your set up.
