Lift kit question, bump stops?
Im putting together a lift kit for my truck and the coils come with extra long bump stops. I bought a set of 3" lift bilsteins to go with it, but Im wondering whats up with the bump stops? Are they to keep the shocks from trying to overcompress? Meaning the new shocks would have rods 3" longer and bottom out 3" sooner?
Would be nice to have that extra 3" of suspension travel if possible. Weve got some potholes up here that make you feel like youre offroad.

Extended bumpstops do 2 things to my understanding limit your wheel from traveling as far into fender well so that it doesnt chew up fender and tire and also saves shock from bottoming out since the shock piston is now going to be longer. Atleast that was the purpose of them on grand cherokee when i lifted it.
