AFE Pro-Guard 7 photos
Two photos of the new AFE Pro-Guard 7 high-flow filter. It's supposed to flow 98% of the oiled-gauze filters, and yet meet Cummins & Dodge filtration standards.
Here's the "megacannon"-type cone filter with the 4-inch exit opening. About $92 at Geno's, another $30 for the prefilter.

And here's a photo of the interior, with the filter held up to a strong light source (250 watt bulb). No pinholes. Supposed to be made of 5 layers of oiled gauze and two layers of synthetic fiber. But it looks like the fiber is actually "woven through" the gauze.

Well. . . . They were nice photos. Too bad you can't see them :. Will try to figure out what's happening.

Aha! There you are! Fixed 'em!
I've installed the filter. Seat-of-the-pants: with light bombs, can't tell the difference between it and the K&N RE-0880 I had on temporarily after my marine BHAF clogged with dust.

XcumminsX: No, they *really* are $92 & change at Geno's. You may be thinking of the entire "Megacanon" assembly with a PG-7 filter.
Dr. Evil: Sorry, no installation photo. You can't see it anyway -- I use a big stovepipe "T" fitting for a heat shield -- filter inserted inside one end, opposite end open toward the firewall, and an 8-inch 12v computer fan ducting air from the fender hole into the "middle" hole in the "T" fitting. Also, I run two four-inch duct-hoses into the filter area from the front of the truck, fitted with small 12v fans. I did this because I couldn't "cut the hole" for a Scotty II -- that's where the plumbing for my exhaust brake is located. It's a bit crowded in there.

I don't know how long the fans last. They haven't failed in 12,000 miles and winter through summer.
The big one is a metal-frame with a brass bearing. The two small ones are side turbine-blower types, plastic with nylon bearings. Available at Radio Shack.

Re:AFE Pro-Guard 7 photos
I haven't driven the truck too much after the Pro-Guard 7 install -- I've got a wounded HX35, too much radial shaft play. Didn't have a choice today, however, had to drive 200 miles and then tow my wife's truck 200 miles back. 60 miles on a very dry dirt road at 45 mph -- mile-long dust plumes. Good test. Results:
(1) Geez, the turbo screams with this filter. (No, it's not because it's wounded, it's not hitting anything right now.) Way louder than the BHAF or the K&N RE-0880 filters installed before. 70 mph uphill, and people are turning in their seats and staring at you.
(2) The seat of my pants says it flows more air than the BHAF. More kick, especially in the upper gears when the turbo spools.
(3) Returning home, I removed the hose and inspected it and the turbo. No oil on the blades or inlet. No dust in the hose.
Looks like a good filter.

Re:AFE Pro-Guard 7 photos
Talking with a tech from K&N he told me that its not the factory oiling that Cummins worries about its the oiling that gets done by the truck owner after they clean the unit.
