4th Tranny

Next week I'll be on my 4th tranny this year! In January myoriginal tranny went. I was near broke and couldn't afford anything but a factory reconditioned thru Aamco. 3 year 50,000 mi warranty. In 1 week the tranny went. Replaced for free and now it's shot. They will put another one in next week for free. I pulled my EZ Edge out. I assume that with it and the injectors it was too much for the stock tranny. What mods should I do to make this new tranny last. Anyone?

At least a good valvebody and a more efficient tourqe converter.

A valve body should help a lot, but they shouldnt be going out that often anyway in my opinion... Did they flush all the coolers good, and everything when they did it?

Sound like poor installation work to me.

Let's face it, AAMCO is not premium quality technical expertise.

I am not transmission expert for sure, with the box and the injectors that is fair amount of torque added to a stock transmisson. I dont wont to bad mouth anyones work, I have to wonder if the fellows cleaned out the coolers and lines. If you have a good rebuild then a valve body or shift kit would be in order or that is what I would do. Now the better converter will add extra torque to the clutches, so I would do the valve body first. If someone could chime in a tell you the best way to check the oil pressure and each gear, that might give you some piece of mind about internal leaks, and the general health of the transmission.
This may sound silly but is your throttle lever on the transmission moving as you move the throttle? I gave my transmission a band-aid as a fellow told me but I made a throttle stop on my transmisson to hold the throttle lever from going back to the orginal resting position. The result was instead of 55 at idle I had 75 or 80 psi. The may be a little high. I checked it many years ago when I saw a post on the TDR how to adjust the pressures on the valve body and check the pressure. It was no where close to 55 at idle. I got delayed up shifts and higher oil pressure at low throttle angles. That was 4 years ago. The transmission still works fine. Good luck Jim

I will make it clear to these guys to clean out the cooler and lines. Then I guess a Valve body is in order. First I have to find a tranny shop in the Los Angeles-Ventura county to install it. Thanks for your thoughts.
