12 to 24 valve conversion (head swap)

I have encountered an interesting proposition. I have the option of doing a 12 to 24 valve conversion since I am having to replace my head anyways.
But what I NEED to know is what HAS to be done to complete the conversion, besides fuel lines and injectors? Are pistons a must? How about the cam? Push rods?
I know it will be expensive but I have found a good 24 valve head for 200 bucks, thats over 600 bucks cheaper than Ive been able to find a 12 valver for .
Also to anyone who has done this, or did the P-pump swap on their 24 valve... Was it worth it? and What kind of benifits will I see?
light walletedly yours,
Scott
