06 trans in a 96
06 trans in a 96
Other than the obvious advantage of being newer. If I were to pick up a almost new trans, other than having to upgrade computer.
- Is the 06 tranny any stronger?
- does the 06 lockup sooner, or help in any way?
I know most will say just to call Goerend or whoever, but id still like an answer.

The '96 ECM controls TCC and overdrive, nothing else - the '06 is under complete ECM control, TCC, overdrive, governor pressure, shift ranges, everything - and that ECM is the common-rail fuel injection controller, instruments controller, ac interface, etc - no workee por '96, dude.
Just have your 47R beefed up with the hd components from the 48RE, get the 1200rpm stall TCC in larger single-disk, or triple disk, and yer good to go up to ~1000lbs torque.
And, BTW - talk to dave...............
