$200 25hp Gain?

Hello y'all,

A local fella has been tweaking 2nd gen. Cummins diesels. He spends bout an hour under the hood. He supposedly opens a "sealed black electrical box" and removes a vacuum line. This black box tweak can give you 25, 50 or 75HP gains. He does not install a chip of any kind. I would be most appreciative if anybody has info on this mod.

See ya round,

Stu

Are we talking 12 valves or 24 valves?

for 200 dollar tell him he is nuts. i am thinking 12v and he slides the plate. stay away from the scam masters. 200 bucks goes a long ways towards real fuel help, as in injectors.

I'll second Gunracer's suggestion. The guy sounds like an idiot, and if he was ever caught under my hood, he'd get a boot to the head!

If you have a 12v just shove the plate forward. The guy is full of it. Why would there be a vaccum line in a "sealed black electrical box"? I agree he is shoving plates forward and ripping off the ignorant. :verymad:

Welcome to DTR, hand around here and you will learn all you need to know about your truck.

Thanks y'all,
I have a 24 valve 2001 Cummmins. I agree it could be snake oil I am being sold. I am mighty obliged with the quick draw respnses. If y'all have any new info, I'd be happier than a steer with a salt block.

See ya later,

Stu

Stick or auto? Gauges would be first especially fuel pressure, and after that I'd want a Smarty, and Injectors... How much power are you wanting?

I would be very suspect of a guy messing with a so-called "vacuum line" since the only vaccum lines on your truck are for the climate control (or 4WD if you have it)!!!!
