Wisdom Teeth pulled

Got my wisdom teeth pulled this morning. supposed to get all four pulled but just realized that they only pulled the bottom 2. Now I have to get to other two pulled, going to take me out of work for another 2 days. Oh well. But there is nothing like seeing one thing then about 1 hour later you are waking up. That is a weird feeling.

Ugh! I just recovered from having only one wisdom tooth pulled. It has taken about two months for things to be normal. Still have one left but maybe I'll make it to the grave with it!

I loved having mine pulled. I remember watching them put my IV in and then talking to the doc about the US open and the next thing I know they're waking me up and I can't move my jaw. I had all 4 pulled at once. It was the easiest thing I've ever done. I even stayed out until 2 that night. Never had any pain or nothing. I took 2 pain pills and that was the first two nights right before I went to bed just to be sure that I didn't wake up with any pain.

Do your best not to get a dry socket, its a lot of pain to go through for simple mistakes. I just got them pulled over easter and had to go back for a dry socket fix a week later, it sure dragged the pain out a lot longer than it had too.

Thumbs down

The biggest reason for getting Dry Sockets is from aggressively sucking your drink through a straw.
Think about it how much suction you are creating in your mouth trying to get that thick malt through the straw.
Oh yea, praying to the porcelain GOD from too much vicodin (throwing up) also causes them.
All 4 of mine were impacted and they had to saw them into pieces and then pick them out.
It hurt less when I got shot.

Got mine pulled about 4 years ago, I was suprised to hear they used straight Valium? It stung for about 1.3 seconds, then I was OUT! I had all four done, bottom two impacted & top two erupted, came in all crooked and siedeways.

Not fun.

Hey, this is kinda what I looked like as my wife was walking me out to the car........

Man yall are lucky, when I had mine pulled, the dentist used here for the military is not allowed to put you under, cost too much I guess. Well after numbing up, I can tell you that the cracking sound as he is breaking and ripping, and the heat of the blood, is worst than listening to a diesel coming apart before it throws a rod.

I had all 4 of mine taken out in March. I had mine done at the Naval Hospital here. I was in the chair and the IV was already started and I remember the doc saying he was about to inject the knockout drug into the IV line. That was the last thing I remember until I woke up about an hour and a half later.

My uppers were fine and still well inside the gum, the the ones on the bottom were both impacted with one at a 45° angle and the other was sideways. No dry socket for me. I got Vicodin and Motrin for the pain. I could not keep anything down for the first day and part of the second day. Wasn't able to eat like normal again until 2 weeks later.

Whatever you do, don't smoke til everything heals. If they get infected, you'll wish you hadn't. People have actually died from massive infections that close to their brain, resulting from smoking after having dental surgery.

Don't sweat it! I had mine out when I was 24. All 4, all at once, and all of them were impacted, infected and turned sideways. They gave me intravenous Valium and I saw pink frogs, yellow elephants and polka-dotted kangaroos. After I woke up, I had no pain, just an odd feeling, like something was caught between my teeth. Despite them telling me I had to take it easy for a day or two, I was fighting a structure fire an hour after I got out of the chair. Never had any pain, never had to use the vicodin. I did take a few Advil's because my jaw ached a little from them yanking and prying so much.

All in all, I'd rather go thru that 10 times than have just one tooth filled!

chaikwa.

I was 17 when they pulled all 4 of mine. Not too bad an experience until I went to visit my older sister.

We were sitting around her kitchen table and I was telling her some of my story. All of a sudden she said she needed some fresh air, got up out of her chair, took 2 steps, passed out, and broke her collar bone when it hit the corner of the table.

...I hate having teeth pulled but not as much as my sister.

Yeah it's not that bad. Dentist told me not to use a straw for anything. I had the IV anesthesia. I remember the dentist talking to his assitant and that's all. The gave me Hydrocodone and motrin. they also cut back a piece of skin that was in between my bottom front teeth and my lip. That is worse then the wisdom teeth.
