Unhappy Wisdom teeth

Gettin my wisdom teeth taken out today. Not really looking foward to it, although they are putting me asleep for it. All four of them are coming out. Anyone else have them taken out? And if so, how long before you were able to eat normal food again?

Well it depends on your age and how fast you heal. I had mine done when I was about 20ish (only had three grow). I was able to eat somewhat solid food about three or four days later, but trust me you will not feel like eating anything anways. I did not eat anything really hard for quite some time.

Not to scare you or anything but really pay attention to what they tell you to do to avoid a "Dry Socket". My wife lost a clot and she had dry socket and it was excruciating for both of us.

Yea, the big holes in the back of your mouth are annoying too. Pain killers make all food enjoyable

I think when I had all four of mine removed, it was a couple days I think. I was in my early twenties when I had them done. Looking back, it wasn't bad at all- I'm glad I went under for it.

Believe it or not, the most I remember were the little pills I had to take before I went in (someone had to drive me). They were the best pills I have ever been prescribed- everything was so EDIT funny at first, I mean gut busting, stomach hurting funny! Then, I was in such a state of relaxation and had one hell of a careless state of mind.

I do remember the holes had to heal up, and food would get stuck in them.

I had my two left ones pulled out in boot camp. That was twenty years ago this week (holy cow, I was a shaved head recruit in recieving 20 years ago today). Never had any problems and was eating solid food almost immediately after. Dentist said they were the easiest extractions that he'd ever had. Numbed me up, put a little crow bar back there on the inside and outside and poped them loose and reached in there with his fingers and pulled them out. I've still got them at the house.

Had all 4 done at 30 something. Went to sleep and woke up and it was done ! Ate popciles for a doy or so. The big problem was the holes they left back there. Until its all healed up you get food stuck in the sockets. I put it off for years and really it was not as bad as I thought it would be. Got a dry socket and that suc**. But all in all not to bad!

Soup is normal food....right!?

Vic-0-din and keep em comming. Rinse the holes out well after every "meal" and you'll be oK. 4 at a time is not much fun, but better than going back and knowing what your in for.

I only had 2 wisdom teeth to pull.

Does that mean I have less wisdom than Beagle1?

My day of getting my wisdom teeth pulled turned out to be one of those life experiences I will never forget . I was expecting a unpleasant occurrence and it turned into a good day . My female well endowed dentist set up and appointment to do the deed in her office and said she found that some of her patients do better by having two done and then return in a month or two and have the other ones done . Her plan worked great I ate on the other side of my mouth until the side that the teeth were pulled healed . The actual pulling was done with my head being pressed between the twins and when the appointment was made to pull the other two I was an hour early for my appointment . I needed no pain medicine and would highly suggest doing it this way . Mine were not impacted and if yours are this will not work . I hope my truthful wisdom teeth story does not anger the monitors and I was honestly hoping the things would grow back . That was 25 years ago but thinking about it still brings back found memories thanks for reminding me .

I only had 3 and they all came in a few years apart... I remember eating solids by the next day on the first one and second one. The third one I was fine after the novacain wore off! Even went out that night... and that's when I found out beer and tylenol 3's didn't mix well

I had all 4 done in my early 20's. Was awake for the whole deal. Stopped at the drugstore on the way home to get my prescription for 292's filled and took 2 right at the counter. I was into "medicating" back then. I think it took about 3 days before I could eat anything really solid. I had trouble with the loose threads on the stitches getting into the holes. Food too.

My wisdom teeth were a breeze. I had all 4 taken out. It was so cool when they put me to sleep. I was talking to the doc about the US open and then suddenly they are waking me up. I do remember becoming very combative when waking up. I didn't have any issues. No pain, no swelling, nothing. I stayed out till 2 that night. It took me about 4 or 5 days before I could eat normally again. I only took 3 pain pills and I only took them at bed time just to be safe in case I rolled over and hit myself in the jaw or something.

I had all 4 of my impacted wisdom teeth literally chiseled out of my jaw almost 6 years ago... I basically remember them shooting some good drugs into my arm and then waking up and trying to walk out of the office. I actually played basketball within 12 hours of the surgery. I was eating solid food within 2 days. I never took pain medication other than what they gave me prior to surgery and I didn't have any of the swelling and/or bruising that some of my friends have had. The worst part were the holes they cut into my cheeks... which are still there. You have to be careful of getting food stuck anywhere in the back of your mouth. They may give you a syringe to squirt water into the sockets.
