Why does DC (and others) do this?
I was reading the 2004 Ram propaganda brochure this morning while waiting for the Ghost to get shims on the carrier bearing assembly. The new brochure goes to great pains in explaining the wonderful synergy between Dodge and the Jacobs Exhaust Brake and how it will enhance your driving and towing experience. Do they tell you one time anywhere that it is not available for the auto tranny? NO. >
I read a little farther and it shows the towing capacity of the 4x2 quad diesel to be 16,400#. Do they say anywhere "only with the 4.10 axle"? NO
Where is full disclosure? Where is being factual with details? Many of the salesmen do not know the details, so why does the comsumer have to figure this stuff out for themselves?
Why doesn't DC have an easily accessed database of commonly reported problems of their new models? Why isn't DC spending the time to track down and find the fix for these problems? They leave it up to the consumers and each individual dealership and mechanic to try and find an answer.
Sorry guys - - just sitting there and wasting my time while a mechanic is trying to fix something designed by a team that gives him no help in finding the problem finally got to me. I just had to vent a little. My dealership has been fantastic working with me, but sure no help from the big boys. Is this any way to run a company? I hear the others are no better and maybe worse. No wonder the foreign guys are selling so many autos and trucks. :'( :'(

FiverBob, the economy is finally making a half-hearted comeback, and you want to harpoon any chances of success with a dose of honesty?

Chris, I am so sorry - - I noticed the old ticker took a tumble today after reading of my displeasure. Hey, not complaining about the economy right now, Chris. The old stocks are looking really good - - lucked into some good ones. I was quite amazed when looking for a truck how little the dealerships knew about the little details. None of the literature gives the details, so how is one to find this stuff out? Guess? Trial and error? Wow, expensive trial.
Oh well, I won't have to go thru that agony again for a couple years - - have to put some miles on the Ghost first.

Dan,
Don't know yet - - it only shudders when towing. I will be hooking up on Saturday to try it. I will post when it is fixed with what they did.
