Does the F-150 have an 8ft Bed Available - and why does Nissan/Toyota...
not offer an 8ft bed for their trucks?
I simply could not use a 6ft bed for what I do!
Also, I have NEVER seen an 8ft bed on an F-150...

I have only seen 6' beds on Titans and the new Tundra. I know Toyota made a long bed T100 (forebearer of the Tundra) and I think there was a long bed available for the last generation Tundra, don't know about the current truck, but if they do offer one it is probably only available with a regular cab.

It seems truck use has changed, they haul people and or tow something,
the bed isn't used so much as it was in years past.
They want something they can drive all week and haul the kids to soccer and
on weekends hitch up the trailer and haul everyone in comfort.
I guess I'm outdated, for me it's a regular cab and 8' bed. I don't haul people
, I rarely tow but I haul a lot of stuff in the bed. I have no use for something that I can't load 8' sheets of plywood into AND shut the tailgate.

Need that extra room when I'm hauling 16' 2x10's

Long bed is where it's at... I don't mind driving something thats longer as long as I can carry around everything I want.... With a long bed, I have a 110 gallon fuel tank, a toolbox and I can still fit my quad in the bed... This is something that would be impossible with a short bed.... And I think they look weird.
As far as the F-150, I have seen plenty of them with long beds.

I guess the people around here don't need long beds... never saw one.
Also, how does Nissan and Toyota sell so many trucks that don't have a long bed option?
I don't understand because a large percentage of truck owners are in some field of construction and most of them need a long bed to carry materials to jobsites...

I would guess that the vast majority of 1/2 tons are sold to folks who hardly ever use their pickups as a truck...so they don't need or want a long box.
Of course this would matter where you live, but overall...
BTW the Titan and new Tundra are VERY nice, refined trucks!

The big 3 all offer 1/2 ton trucks w/ 8' beds, reg cab or extended cab only. They are pretty rare though. A friend just ordered an 07 Chevy 1500 ext cab long bed. I couldn't believe he had to order it since all he wanted was a white 1500, 4x4, ext cab, long bed. Dealer said they don't bring ANY 1/2 ton long beds to the lot, order only.

Toyota does offere a long bed with their extended cab on the 07s 1/2 tons, as does Ford, Chevy, and Dodge. Ford has the shorter short bed for their crew cab, as does Chevy, but Dodge and Toyota have a regular short bed for their Mega Cab/Crew Max.
