Wake up dear
Wake up dear
I gave the wife a nice wake up call a few minutes ago. Shot a coyote with a 270 off the back porch .For some reason she can’t see the humor in it. ;D

Good shot to 150 yards ( no BS I stepped it off) got him though both shoulders ,now he’s a good critter.
Re:Wake up dear
Hah, in my neighborhood, I'd have 12 or 14 law enforcement personnel witnessing that shot and asking me "What the h-e-well you know" I was doing, discharging a firearm like that. Ah, the joys of city living. The tree huggers here think they're cute.

Re:Wake up dear
I'm no tree hugger, but I don't just kill things for the joy of it either. I figure animals have a right to be here just as much as I do. I own a few guns, and used to help friends trap when I was younger, or go huntin and all that stuff, but now I enjoy watchin them live and don't think every time I see one "Oh a moveing target".
Coyote's kill cattle and sheep, and I can see why most people kill them on sight. It still burns me though, when people kill them just because they can.
I'm sure i'll get flamed for this mentality, but ya know that's just the way I am.

My friend it all depends how you were raised. If your family lost a ton of money because of Coyotes/Coungars then you would probably kill them too. If you were an orchardist and lost money to crows and magpies, you would probably kill them. I am guessing you were never around an area that lost income due to coyotes? Or maybe you have never seen areas where predators have overtaken the area? Areas where there are no deer or pheasants and quail, because there are too many coyotes and hawks?
I would much rather see the ocasional pheasant or bunny than a coyote. But that is just me and my thoughts, I am sure many think differently. Up here in eastern washington, when I see a coyote, it usually doesn't live if there is anything I can do about it...

Re:Wake up dear
Our state gov't thought it would be a smart idea to bring in coyotes to help keep down the Deer. I guess the Coyotes were smarter because they don't kill the deer when they can jut cill fenced in Cows. last year we lost 4 and the year before that we lost 2. sofar we lost 1 this year. The state says it must be a pack of wild dogs. :

Never had a crop or heard decimated, but I still like to hunt. I do hunt pheasant which are decimated by coyote's. I'd probably hunt coyote's if they didn't go after pheasant. I don't get around to it as much though because I also fish. This is also for pleasure, not because they are hurting other animals. I even catch and release, whereas in Germany, this is illegal. The animal rights activists say catch and release is torture and you must put them out of their misery as opposed to helping the population. But this is America where we are free to hunt and fish. Our taxes pay for places to do this (more money from licensing to support public land than any other form of recreation), and I utilize these places. I also earned this freedom, and spent about the last 13 years earning and protecting this freedom in one form or another. I have also spent time on habitat improvement, and will continue to do so.

Woooooo I did not intend to start a shooting war. The thing is that there are too many coyotes in this area. When you start seeing them in the daylight and don’t see as many rabbits as you should then the song dogs need thinning. I too like to here them calling in the evening. But when they have a trail that looks like a cow path worn across my place something has to give. As for killing them off man has been killing coyotes for hundreds of years and there are more of them today than there was then. They breed faster than the rabbits do.

Now about this hunting for Bigfoot in Texas you may want to bring your lunch. Because the finding an’t near as bad as the shooting. He was here 20 years ago and he is still here and he will be here until Hoss moves south of Dallas.
Hoss you can have my old stomping grounds I’ll stay down here south of Ft Worth. ;D
