Trans. cooler lines

Hi, I replaced the radiator in my Buick last week and fluid is leaking from the adapters. What can I use on the threads? ( blue RTV, teflon tape?). Thanks, Rich

Teflon Tape,
Are you sure you have the correct thread adapters for your lines on the replacement radiator?

I did that once- I used tapered into straight (or was it the other way around?) and I never got it to stop seeping. Make sure you're using the same thread taper- NPS and NPT aren't compatible.

I run into this all of the time except for home appliances, tenants will install a stove, BBQ and even water heaters and try to screw a flare or inverted flare onto an iron pipe thread, they will fit but they will leak like crazy It amazes me just how not smart some people are.

Sometimes it hurts my head when my high mechanical intelligence has to deal with low or no intelligence.

Who knows if the RAD you got is NPT, or NPS. Double check. Teflon tape when required.
