I predict there will be a gun fight here on my property if anyone demands access to ANY area without a warrant. Went thru a similar scenario with the local assessor when he told me he was going to see the inside of the house and all barns. The only 'inside' he saw was the barrel of the 12 gauge. I thought for sure there was going to be ramifications from that incident, but we never heard word one from anybody. All I can think of was that he knew he was not allowed to assess home interiors by state statute and didn't want to get caught up in a nasty dispute.
When the subdivision my aunt and uncle near Dayton, OH, are in was annexed by the local municipality, they had someone going around writing tickets for zoning violations. There was a large letter-writing campaign by the neighbors when they started harrassing my uncle about running a carpentry business out of his house. Legally they can go no farther than the public sidewalk, or to your front door. He was getting citations that required the inspector to completely circle the house.
It stopped when everyone on his street wrote in asking them to leave him alone as he snowblows several driveways, and helps with home repairs for many of the people who live there, without asking for any compensation, that his business is not bothering any of them, and that it's a better place to live with him there.
