I have a chance to buy a truck that was smoked in a lot. Does anybody know or have any suggestions on how to remove/kill cigarette smoke from a vehicle.

They make carpet cleaner with amonia in it. I know it gets rid of most smells including cat/dog pee.

It's commercial though... We used it at my uncles flooring company. I'd put that on everything and spray it into the A/C inlets.

Any idea where I might be able to get some of that carpet cleaner?

No I don't... I do know it works good and uses amonia in it. It doesn't have an over powering amonia smell though. Ours was blue in color and we used it in the heavy duty carpet cleaners.

I'd look it up on Google or hit up your phone book for carpet supply or industrial cleaning.

Looks like ammonia and baking soda do well. I'd get a little spot cleaner since they should be small and do the whole interior.

After that you can mask what ever is left and let it air out. I still have my old Z28 I smoked in for like 4 years and it doesn't smell like smoke anymore... After it sat for awhile it went away.

If you do not have access to the ozone machine, simply fill a spray bottle with full strength cider vinegar. Spray all surfaces in the cab including, especially, the headliner until they are just damp. Park the truck in full sun, windows closed of course, for 3-4 days until the vinegar has evaporated. It will take the smell out with it when it evaporates. You might have to do this twice but I only needed once when a cat got stuck in my Ramcharger... This works best in the summer but it should still be warm enough in Houston to evaporate the vinegar. Sounds too easy, but it worked for me. Good luck.ry

Thanks guys, I think I'll try a couple of your ideas before I buy the truck to see how good they work to see if I can live with it.

Well, you could always start smoking. The smell wouldn't bother you then.

Naw, don't do it man.

Boring day at work. Sorry

Yeah, I did that for about 10 years, 30 years ago, not going back now. They say (who are "they"?) it bothers someone who has quit smoking more than if you never smoked and I would agree. Going down the interstate at 70 mph I can smell it if someone in the car ahead of me is smoking
