I just change my oil and tranny fluid yesterday. The trans is much quieter now. I noticed a gear oil smell today after driving around town. I used Shell Rotella 15w-40 in the engine. Could it be the new oil stinking when it gets hot?

 

I've heard that it's supposed to, but I just changed mine and I can't smell any difference. I used Rotella T 15W-30.

 

yep rotella does smell 4 a little while. thats why the nickname for it is .... rosmella. good oil though. scott

 

I have read several threads on here talking about Rotella stinking. I am like Begle1 though, I use it and have never noticed the smell.

 

You guys must have defective sniffers.

 

Must be one of those things that comes with old age!!

 

I don't think the Beagle is shaving yet...

 

I smell it also, but any oil would smell with an oil leak
