No Call List on Hold (This Stinks)
Re:No Call List on Hold (This Stinks)
i disagree with the ruling. Someone Should review there laws. If someone calls me and i tell them they cant call thats Aggrevated Harrasment according to the NYS penal law. I think by puting my name on the list It would be like telling everyone Dont call me. If the tellemarketers want to drive up and down my street and try to sell there whares then by all mean do so under the 1st amendment but once you call my house you are now violating my rights....
Re:No Call List on Hold (This Stinks)
I have learned to really enjoy these calls, I usually let them give me their sales pitch then ask silly questions about it.
Often I will even ask them for advice about things that have nothing to do with what they are selling. An example would be "How do you get the blade off the electric can opener? so you can clean it."
Then I like to tell them about my great Aunt Margie, the one receiving shock therapy in the mental hospital
poor thing thinks she is Emelia Earhart and keeps getting lost at Walmart.
As you can see the possibilities are only limited by your imagination, I figure the longer I keep them on the phone, the more money they waste calling me.
Stop them in the middle of their speech and tell them, you have to answer the door, keep coming back every couple of minutes to ask if they are still there?. Tell them you will be right back!
That one can be good for 20 minutes or so, In short don't get angry, just stick it right back on them and show them how annoying it is to have somebody waste your time.

I do not answer the phone at my house. Anyone that I enjoy talking to is more than welcome to just drop by and visit. And those 2 or 3 know this.
;D
Only answer the phone at work because I have to.
I would not have a phone if it were not for the wife and kids.

You could always get the number for the Direct Marketing Assoc. and start calling them.
Some reporter did this and it clogged up their (DMA's) phone lines to the point that they quit answering them and put on a recording.
I do like some of Top's ideas. Sometime you can get a good conversation going.

I like messing with their heads as well, usually i ask what i should have for dinner or if they know a phone number that i need, if they can give me directions to a shop i need to find, etc etc. Other times i just let the machine get it.
Re:No Call List on Hold (This Stinks)
Texas has their own No-Call list, seperate from the FTC one. The cost is $2.25 per number listed. A seperate "Electric" no call list is also availble to Texans (at an additional $2.55 per number). This prevents electric companies from calling you trying to get you to switch to them (because of the rules changes in Texas about being able to select your own power provider).
According to what I have read, so far, the Texas state no-call list has not been challenged and is still valid.
