Spare Tire for 1500
Why does my Dodge 1500 have a 17" spare when we have 20" tires on it.

17 inch rims and tires are cheaper than 20 inch stuff.
And since it is a spare….you get cheap.

Cheap is right but I'd think it could damage something if had to use and no tire shop is available immediately. The truck is 4 wheel drive too

Are the tires the same size (circumference)?
If so, it won't matter.
Either way, it's a spare.
Beats sitting on the side of the road with a flat.

Check your build sheet/window sticker if you have it, I bet the 20" upgrade is for (4)....
