Primer paint question.
Primer paint question.
Well, I'm finally back at the stripping/priming of my mess. After stripping the right front fender I decided to take off the hood and fenders to be able to get behind them better. The hood's already done and I just got the right fender done today.
What I'm doing is stripping off the bad paint job and the original paint down to the original primer. Then I'm sanding it smooth with 400 paper. Because there are many spots where I get down to bare metal I am using self etching primer (Sherwin Williams GPB 988). I'm putting on 2-3 coats so I'm sure it's well coated.
Once I get it all done I plan to lightly sand it again with 400 or maybe 600 grit to make it smooth and drive it down to Maaco for the finish.
I'm thinking I may do the space between the cab and the bed myself to cut down on labor costs. Maybe also spray the door jambs.
What do ya'll think?
Edwin
