fuel/primer pump question(stalls out)

I love my new 98.this morning it gave me some trouble though.I started it today and after 30 seconds it stalled. If I pump on the primer pump it will run for another 30 seconds. So this the fuel and primer pump two seperate pumps? do i just need a new fuel pump?Trying to save the hassle of replacing the pump if i dont need one. Thanks for the help guys

Try an aux source, small container with new hose close to LP to see if LP works, if it does than fuel line/hoses may be leaking , a lot of posts about the hoses to tank getting pours and sucking air , then some of the lines , especaly next to the hold downs cracking .

I second john f's motion. start with the inexpensive, obvious easy stuff. work your way toward the hard expensive stuff.

one word of caution, you have to be plasticman to fit your arms and hands in there to change those lines up to the pump. They didn't allow for guys with big forearms

well, those yoga classes finaly paid off.The filter is ok,the lines are steel on mine.Took the pump off, pump works fine.It was sucking air from the heater electrical connection.Go figure .The primer and lift pump are two seperate pumps in one housing in case anybodys wondering.
thanks all
mike

that little gem (strainer) is like $300

hopefully you can stop your air leak without a new one.

let me guess, the bottom plug on the side toward the front of truck?

if you need that harness, let me know, i've got the part #, I just did one last week.

I've never ran into a situation that required replacing the entire heater, all of it's parts are available separately.
