Paint Spray gun
Paint Spray gun
Hi all.
Wondering what you'd reccomend for a decent yet inexpensive paint spray gun to use on my compressor. I want to paint some trailers that I have etc.
I used to have an electrostatic gun but don't anymore.
Thanks

You said "decent" and "inexpensive" in the same sentence!
They are more $$$s, but the gravity feed guns work really good. My father swears by them in the autobody business. It will make painting upsidedown and all-around easier, especially on a stock trailer. He uses Binks and Develbis (spelling?) which are high, but maybe there is a cheaper line of gravity feeds out there somewhere if you search.

in terms of cheap and easy to get, I like the Craftsman gun. I have one I use at home, its works quite well comes apart easily for cleanup, parts (i.e. nozzles) are a quick trip to sears away, and I'm pretty sure if something does go wrong with it, it'll be replaced free (not sure if it counts as a tool or not?)
Thanks duner, do you know what brand it is? I live North of the border so there aren't any pep Boys around....
Are the Campbell Hausfield gravity feeds any good???
That was what I was thinking of maybe getting.

CH makes a pretty crappy paint gun. Just about 1 time use and then toss. You'l never find parts for them. You need to go with Develbiss, Grayco, and there's another name that I can't think of right now.

Everybody makes a crappy gun. I bought a Devilbiss gun that was junk. Same with Binks. Every company makes a low grade happy homeowner special that isn't worth beans. You want to shoot for a mid grade gun. I actually had really good luck with a Campbell Hausfeld "serious duty" gun. It was cheap ( around $80) and sprayed just as well as any $300 gun I've ever had. The model number is DH7500. It requires 6.1 cfm air delivery. I liked it so much I bought 2. It's not a gravity gun it's just a conventional cup gun. I don't know if they still make it but if they do it's a decent gun for the price. Good luck.
If you're looking to paint a car or something like that, then a really good, inexpensive gun lis the Astro Evo. It's a copy of one of the very high end guns. One of the best features is it's LVLP, so if you have a small compressor this won't use as much air:

If you go to any of the paint and body forums, you'll see a lot of folks recommending these.
