Newbie here

Hello all!
I am seriously considering buying an '06 2500 CTD 6-Speed. I have never owned a diesel before, but with the deals going on, this might be the right time to buy.
My biggest concern is the day-to-day driveability of the diesel, like going back and forth to work. The new ones seem pretty quiet, so noise is no longer a big issue.
I'm towing a '06 Jayco Jay Flight 29FBS that scales aroung 8000 pounds loaded, again towing capability is not a problem. My current tow vehicle is an '04 Nissan Titan Crew Cab with the Big Tow pkg. It tows the trailer fairly well, but I'm at my limit. Fuel mileage sucks, 9mpg. That's why I'm looking at the diesel.
I've been lurking in the various sections, but any advice is greatly appreciated!

Diesel's are just fine at day-to-day driving. Below 40 degrees you need to plug the engine in to keep it warm over night, but otherwise it's the same as a gas engine. Only with better economy-per-displacement and longer-lasting.

$11K off sticker to start. (Sticker is $42505. and they have 150 CTD's in stock)

Sounds like a good deal to me.

Christopher's Dodge in Golden. I bought a Dakota there years ago and they treated me pretty good. Just look in the paper, their ad is huge.
Next week I'm going to do a test drive and talk some REAL numbers. We'll see if it's all on the up and up.

Well my buddy Chris just bought a new 1500 from them over memorial day and he got around the same off sticker as what you said. He put a little cash down and got it for $13,000.......so I'm thinking it's probably a real deal.

I might just have to go down there and look as well.....kinda like them new ones!!!

40 degrees? Wow, you must not mind a bit bigger electric bill. I'd say on average, aound here (Alaska) we don't plug in until 20 degrees or colder. Heck, I even forgot to plug it one night and temps got down to almost -40. Truck still fired right up. Grid heater cycled for quite a while, and she smoked good! Thank god for Power Service, winter blend and the reliable Cummins for that.

You mean it isn't 40 degrees?

I live in the Inland Valley of Southern California, so I don't know anything about cold weather procedures. In the 18 months that I've owned my truck I've had the "Wait to Start" light come on three times...

Other CTD owners have had their trucks 18 months and only NOT had a Wait to Start light three times.....
