Now that we are over the shock, this is an amazing process. I cannot believe the freinds & family support during this time. We have enough food in my dad in laws house to feed an army. People are so kind and compassionent. Mom in law was the kind of person who did the meals at the church for funerals, weddings, ect, and man is she getting paid back!

It is interesting to watch the grieving process and how it takes so many different forms. One minute we're crying, the next minute we are laughing.

Take care of your family guys & gals. When it all comes down to it, it's all we really are.

Thanks again for all the nice posts.

Boy, ain't that the truth. Last Monday we were in my father in law's hospital room waiting for the hearse to arrive to take his body. He had passed away 30 minutes before our arrival after a long illness. Our tears turned to laughter as we mourned him, and then talked about his life. It seemed almost sacreligious at times, but my wife assured us that this is the way that he would have wanted it; laughing and remembering the good times we had together.

"I'd like the memory of me
to be a happy one,
I'd like to leave an afterglow
of smiles when life is done.
I'd like to leave an echo
whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times
and bright and sunny days.
I'd like the tears of those who grieve,
to dry before the sun
Of happy memories that I leave
When life is done."

My eyes are wet again.....
