Talking Looking at another Truck!!!

Take a look guys.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...482140507&rd=1

If I can afford insurance (19 and a wreck on the record), She will be mine!!

Is there anything I should be leery about. Being in Texas it should have no rust issues should it, and has a GN hitch, so it has been "Used"

It just looks like a really nice truck for the miles, and my current rig had over 200K, so this one doesn't scare me.

Thanks,
Chris

Oh Yeah, This will be my daily driver, and play rig .

It looks to me like they did some heavy duty cleaning on it, I doubt it was maintained as well as it looks now. I'd bet money that there's a chunk of leather missing from the top of the steering wheel. The guy has some negative feedback as well. I'd be hesitant to pay top dollar for this truck. If you can get a good deal, go for it. I bought mine out of Texas on Ebay and paid about 60% of what a comparable truck would cost me up here, but the seller had more and better feedback. You have to be very careful on Ebay if you don't want to get screwed.

That rear bumper is definately trash ($200 to $500), the right frint simulator (wheel cover) is bashed in ($50), that steering wheel cover is likely covering up something, and it looks like the GN hitch is welded in. That monstrosity hanging on the front would have to go too. Can't really tell but it looks like the front tires are worn funny, probably needs a good front end alignment.
Not to squash you hopes or anything but be very careful. They way they have cleaned that thing up and the way they are presenting it, they think they have a cream puff there. They will more than likely want top dollar.

Just did a quick search on KellyBlueBook.com and trade in is about $7900 and top retail is about $13000. I would be real hesitant to go much over $10k and I would want to drive it first. I picked up a 94 dually 4x4 in Arkansas for $10k and it had over $6000 in after market stuff already on it and the first time we dyno'd it, it ran 360 HP and 760 tq. Good luck and I hope things work out.

You can be sure 99% of the non-collectible vehicles on Ebay have already been advertised in their local papers and for one reason or another buyers passed on them. However, inherited and estate settlement vehicles get listed on Ebay pretty often. This truck appears to be sitting in an import car dealership, seems to me someone at the dealership would have contacted buddies at other dealerships looking for interested customers who already would have snatched it up, if it was indeed a good buy. WOW. Thanks for the input guys!

I'll talk to them some more, but so far I'm not really scared about the truck, just my insurance costs .

I was going to have them look under the truck for me, for rust and oil. But I know they will sugar coat that too.

I'll just have to see what they'll take for it.

Thanks Again Guys,
Chris

Dieseldude4x4: I think all your seeing on the rear bumper is the reflection of the checkered floor unless i missed something.

Signature600: My truck is a 94 2500 4x4 automatic with 160,000 miles on it, and we gave $8800 for it after taxes. I know this truck is newer and everything, but it has a few more miles, and is only 2wd(unless you want to get technical about it ). I would want to look at it first, but whatever you do, good luck .

Eric

The rear bumper is bent/dented on the right-side.

I wouldn't be worried about the steering wheel cover. I put a cover on mine too. The wheel was worn in the 10-11 o'clock position from use. Put it on so it wouldn't get worse. Works nice. Has diamond tread patterno n it so my hands no longer slip when sweaty.

Is there a member near there to look at it? An unbiased opinion would be good.

Make sure you know what your buying. That good deal could end up costing alot of $$ to keep it going a few months down the road, such as tranny, brake, engine, drivetrain issues. Not trying to say your going to have to dump alot of money in it, but a used and abused truck with high mileage tends to start wearing out in the critical areas that tend to break the bank to replace. Its the stuff thats just no fun and a pita to replace.

I got my truck off ebay after a cancelation and i talked with him to buy it. I had researched the truck a few days and looked it over well. I decided to buy it knowing i could be taking a risk of getting a truck in need of TLC.

Truck ended up being in good shape even though its from WV and is got some rust.

Heres a list of stuff ive replaced since i got it in Dec 03, not including oil and filters.

Plastic fuel line sections
Starter contacts
Air filter
Upper and lower balljoints
Front axle seals
Calipers and pads
Turned rotors
Under Body coating

Need to replace:
Front gear case gasket
Grill

Normal stuff, just giving you an idea of what to prepare for just in case.

Okay, took a close look at the pics and noticed a few things.

The rear bumper IS trashed. Im suprized its still on there.

The engine has some sort of oil leak in the front grear case, cover, main seal, or KDP. The belt is catching the oil on the edge and slinging it on the alternator. Trust me, mine is identical. My gear case gasket is leaking.

Poor Ebay sellers, nothing gets by DTR without the plain facts pulled out of there pics.

Yeah, they said they fixed that oil leak. Cost them $800 bucks .

I am going to call them today, and see if I can talk to whoever did the repair, and also will run the VIN through my local dealer to see that info.

Thanks Again,
Chris

Oh Yeah, I really don't care about the bumper, it will leave as soon as I get a new one.
