Good, good. You all just stay far, far away from here. We already got way too many immigrants and flatlanders. It's gotten to where a fella can't turn around without runnin' into a out-of-state license plate. Born and raised here, left for 20 + years, courtesy of Uncle Sam's travel club. While I visited many nice places, none of them were better than home. Retired from said travel club back to here and here's where I'll stay. Now, you all just remember, we have a rain festival which starts on 1 Jan and runs through 31 Dec, the mosquito is our state bird and the slug has his own day as well. As was once said many years ago by a former Oregon Governor, you can visit, leave your money, then GO HOME!!! This particular remark was directed towards Californians who seem to travel north with their massive land cruisers, clogging the roads and admiring the mountains (mostly cuz they're not obscured by smog). Now, I gotta go soak my feet to keep the webbing flexible. And NO!, I ain't gonna tell you where here is. Go see West by-god- Virginia, but watch out for an ol' grizzled Top Sergeant. He might not cotton to too many flatlanders either. Better yet, go visit Hoss and Gonzo. Gonzo's new house has got lottsa room. Hoss just needs pestering. ;D ;D ;D

Well I’m old and so much is changed. In 1963 I went to the LA area and thought I had found paradise, year around good temperatures, Mt. Baldy always on the horizon, big city but easy to get out, that was in ’63. I don’t even want to visit there any more. Alaska and Yukon is absolutely beautiful other than the mosquitoes and the winter, great to visit. I will agree with southern and central BC, really nice there. I think Oklahoma, almost moved there a couple of times, did spend some time there. An hey, no helmets on the bike. Alabama used to be the place but the administrations are trying to catch up with NY and Cal on taxes, no were near it yet but they are working on it. Still is one of the better places to live and the laws are lax on the trucking. I do miss the oceans, loved the dune buggies that can’t be used any more, eastern Long Island was great for many years, of course that is when Nassau County was mostly potato fields. Miss the boating, lakes are different. Might move to Okie one day, but my kids are here….

There are other places to live besides Texas?

Yeah, and as soon as Texans find out, they move there. Wondered why every unit I was in, in the service was full of Texans.

Yeah, now that you mention it...... And have you ever noticed how sensitive they are about being from Texas. Why, you'd think that the sun circled around Texas.... Dang, just gave them some more delusional ideas to spout. Even if you move there, they treat you like a foreigner, cuz you ain't from hereabouts. Ah well, more power to them. Just remember, we in places unspecified have far too much rain and mosquitos and slugs for your liking. 98RamTough has the dry side, I have wet side of the Cascades covered.

Mexico. Not the coast because it is too humid. Inland and a bit high. Where I used to live near Guadalajara is classed as the second nicest climate by the National Geographic. The nicest climate is a toss-up between Nairobi and a part of the coast in South Africa.

Nicest place I have ever been is a small island in the Indian ocean east of Africa called Lamu. Temperate climate, one of the best hospitals in the area, but no CTD there. No vehicles at all. Only feet and Donkeys. With a couple hundred grand there you could live like a millionaire. Clean and friendly to boot. Mexstan Nirobbery is just too violent a place to live. Too high in the mountains for breathing (for me anyway)

Re:If you could live anywhere...

Hey, never said I wanted to live in Nairobi. Actually I went to school there for two years but the Mau-Mau murders chased us away. Agreed, it is not so nice any more but the climate is great. Same for the Garden route of South Africa. Fantastic place, but the crime rate is climbing I enjoy the coast but don't enjoy the humidity that goes with it. Grew up on the Indian ocean and loved it. Was close to a beach bum and spent a LOT of time fishing in those huge Indian ocean waves. Miss that sometimes. So a good compromise for me is Mexico. I can be on the beach on either coast with an easy days drive. In between the beach I live in a wonderful year round moderate climate. The people around me are good also. Sure, nothing is perfect and it is not perfect here, but it is close.

Well I like snowmobiling and ATVing. The upper midwest is getting warmer and everytime I go back to Wisconsin it is getting more populated. I liked washington state but it just rained to dam much. Georgia was great because of the women but to dam hot. Alaska is the place for me and if you like the outdoors this is the place. Hunting, fishing is the best in the U.S. With over 3 million lakes you can fish in most places and see more animals than people. We can drive our atv's almost anywhere. Only bad thing is that most of our family is in the lower 48 and it gets lonely sometimes during the holidays.

I'll take deserts in the winter and cool mountains in the summer.

Any state with a shall issue gun permit law.

States with no state income tax and a relative low cost of living.

Any where but Commiefornia.
