Re:If you could live anywhere...

That'll be any of the 50 states in about six weeks ;D

Can't say the alternatives are any better though...the heir apparent (Cruz Bustamante) wants to cut the Vehicle License Fee (which they just tripled) for vehicles initially purchased for under $20K, which means my fee is gonna be over $400 again. That and issue driver's licenses to illegal aliens. Wonder who that's gonna benefit the most?

Re:If you could live anywhere...

Well,

I'll tell ya this...We don't live in Wonderful Wyoming because the weather is "ideal". -20 in the winter, and 100+ in the summer each with 50 mph winds is not uncommon. But you couldn't pry most of us outta here with a tamping bar.

However....... the absolute funnest, most beautiful place I have ever experienced are the jungles, rivers, and beaches of the Riviera Maya in the Yucatan Penninsula in Mexico. I've been meaning to talk to you about this Mexstan. ;D 8) I can't imagine living anywhere but Wyoming....but someday... ??? : :

If cost is no object and I can tell the local and state governments to take a flying leap, San Diego or near there. Otherwise, whereever the busybodies will just leave me alone 8).

Utah.
Specifically the Wasatch Front.
(Salt Lake City, Provo, Ogden, and all points between).
Not hickville, but not huge sprawling metropolis either.

Mountains to the right of you.
Mountains to the left of you.
Plenty of lakes, rivers, hunting, fishing and camping all within an hours drive.
If you like the Desert, we got that too, just over the left mountains.
Close enough to California to be able to enjoy it, without living it.
Just far enough from Vegas to avoid temptation, but close enough to get there on a whim.

Re:If you could live anywhere...

Good, good. You all just stay far, far away from here. We already got way too many immigrants and flatlanders. It's gotten to where a fella can't turn around without runnin' into a out-of-state license plate. Born and raised here, left for 20 + years, courtesy of Uncle Sam's travel club. While I visited many nice places, none of them were better than home. Retired from said travel club back to here and here's where I'll stay. Now, you all just remember, we have a rain festival which starts on 1 Jan and runs through 31 Dec, the mosquito is our state bird and the slug has his own day as well. As was once said many years ago by a former Oregon Governor, you can visit, leave your money, then GO HOME!!! This particular remark was directed towards Californians who seem to travel north with their massive land cruisers, clogging the roads and admiring the mountains (mostly cuz they're not obscured by smog). Now, I gotta go soak my feet to keep the webbing flexible. And NO!, I ain't gonna tell you where here is. Go see West by-god- Virginia, but watch out for an ol' grizzled Top Sergeant. He might not cotton to too many flatlanders either. Better yet, go visit Hoss and Gonzo. Gonzo's new house has got lottsa room. Hoss just needs pestering. ;D ;D ;D

Oh yes the Valley in VA. Very nice place. When I lived in the Springfield VA area back in the mid 90's I went to the Valley to smallmouth fish as often as I could. very nice indeed.
