found out truck has been wrecked
today i noticed a crack in the front passenger finder from BONDO and then that made me start looking hard and it is also like that behind the cab...the carfax was good and the dealer didnt even tell me aint that a Edit
Had an 03 D-Max that had a slight front end collision. Found that out when I took it in to have a coolant leak fixed. Service guy said it may have been caused from a wreck. ***!
I found out mine has been wrecked as well.
CarFax is useless.
If I go drive my truck underwater, then into a telephone pole, and have my mechanic buddy and bodyshop fix it, will it ever show up?
Nope.
Carfax is a guide, and it saved me from a six-owner, "accident indicator" truck I was about to purchase before I found 96_12V. And it won't help if you don't pursure them. Next step I would reccommend: Go to a reputable body shop and have them do a full inspection on your truck. Ask for some documentation of what they think happened. If you feel better about it, get two shops' analysis of the truck. THEN and ONLY THEN approach the dealer, with documentaiton. I would also contact CarFax and see what they will do. Remember that without data, it's just another opinion.
*Buyer beware* even if you have a carfax done, even if it's at a dealer, it's still VERY helpful to take a car or truck you are considering to a body shop and have it fully checked over. Most people rush into buying a veichle, and then they find out afterward what the real story is. I'm sorry this has occured, I've been burned in a similar way, but in my case it was a $2600 car for college. I just drove it and forgot about it, but learned a good lesson from the experance.

if you can get some documentation, you might have a case against the dealership or the previous owner. when i've traded vehicles in, there is a question about whether the vehicle has ever been in an accident, and it sounds like either the previous owner was lying, or the dealer held back the info.
If it has a clean title there isnt much you can do.

It sucks, but like mentioned, the dealer may not have had any idea. The previous owner that the dealer got if from may not either if he wasnt the original owner.
Everytime a vehicle trades hands is a new chance for hidden mysteries on whats happened in its past.

My brother bought a truck which he thought was clean. Found out it had been rolled then repaired after he found a crack in the frame. I have heard that some states to not require the salvaged to be transfered to the next state. I could be wrong. But it took a friend in the police department (a detective) to find out it was previously rolled. Live and learn.
