how can i tell or find out if my trans has been rebuilt

Just a plain ole guy
AFAIK, if a repair is done right, you should never be able to know it was ever broke. To see if a trans is rebuilt, my guess would be you'd have to dis assemble it and look at the components. Unless you can visually see maybe where someone used silicone to put the tail housing back on or signs like that. Maybe if the bolts on the valve body have been rounded off a bit might be a sign. I would expect to see a pan gasket/filter that has been changed under regular maintenance, but that would not point to a rebuilt. Any receipts left in the glove box? Is your town small enough that the only trans shop in town would remember or have a record?
Also, why ask a question like this?
