Anyway to tell if IP has been replaced?

I was just wondering if there is anyway to tell if the injection pump has been replaced in my truck yet?

A lot of the rebuilt VP's will be black instead of silver.

not fool proof, but there is a factory installed void sticker on the electronic connection on the back of the VP-44...

Definitely not a sure fire way, but look at the injection line nuts, look at the nuts holding the pump to the case. See if you see any evidence of wrench or tool marks on them.

On rebuilt pumps you'll usually find a red or orange substance on the heads of the screws holding it together. When the coating is cracked or missing it usually indicates it's been tampered with. There is usually a sticker from the remanufactor attached also.

I agree on the black\silver issue, my original was silver, but when I got it back from the dealer it was black.

If you have a hookup at a Dodge dealer, any Dodge dealership will work, they can run a check throughout all of the dealerships in the country to see what work has been done on that truck by the dealer. They run a search with the vin number through the database. It's not a 100% foolproof, because not all IP's are replaced at the dealer, but I think most probably are and if so, it would tell for sure. The general public doesn't know too much about this search and Dodge likes to keep it hush hush. But if you have a friend, they can run it for you and tell you. Chances are they won't let you have or even see the printout, but they should tell you either way. HTH

I took my vin # to the dealer and got not only a copy of the build sheet but also a copy of the service history with no hassle at all. Worth a try!
