Looking for feedback for Miami residents. I'm taking a job in the Miami area. Temporary long term, two years.

I'm a little concerned about the heat during the summer. Is it expensive to keep the apartment cool or comfortable? I'm looking at high rise apt. 23rd 26th floor units. One is 100' from the atlantic and the other is next to Biscayne bay.

I have to be set up by the 15th of March. Hard to "look" at units through the internet.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

It gets hot, but it is bearable. If you tint the windows and have good window shades, it helps.

If you keep the t-stat at 83- 85 while you are gone, then it will help. Buy a programmable t-stat, have it kick on 30 minutes before you get home.

Enjoy Miami, but don't go out after dark

Your first summer will be tough - - after that you get used to it. Your blood turns to orange juice. Just don't go to Alaska two years later in the winter without lots of thermals. Good advice given. Our T-Stats go to 82 when we leave for the day. We have split systems and shut up parts of the house and turn those units up to 80. Nighttime, the main house gets set at 80 while the bedroom stays cool. Not too bad. Just remember the winter - - no ac, little heat - - open the windows and enjoy - - unless we have a repeat of this winter.

Stay away from South Beach - - might get in trouble.
