Fix-clean glass

OK, I did something real stupid. I cut some steel with an abrasive cut off saw and did not pay attention to where my truck was, in proximity to this event. I now have about 10 little specks on my drivers door side glass. Can this be fixed or do I put new glass in? I know better, but thats what happens when your in a hurry. So after rushing I'm still behind!

If you have a glass shop near, check and see if they have a can of Glass Polish, it is a paste like polishing Compound and you might be able to buff them out.

If they are pits in the glass, I have seen stuff at the Auto Parts that is supposed to fill them in like for a pitted windshield, but I do not know if it works or not.

I would also be concerned with the truck door, you might want to wash it and put on a good coat of wax, you probably also hit the painted surfaces and that might cause some rust to start.

I always get sparks in my pants when I use a 4” grinder under a truck. Or catch my pants legs on fire.

You could try one of these products from Eastwood:

I'm going to try one for my Jetta windshield. I figure for the price it's worth a try for a scratched pitted windshield before replacing it. Should work for your side window. -Glen

yer truck is gonna have all the little rust specks from the steel you cut ALL over it. yer bummin. theres no way to get it off. i did it over my bed and roof werkin on a gooseneck trailer. it ruined my white truck. i had to have it sanded and repainted.
its sticks when its hot i guess and then the dew or rain makes it rust.

it totally screwed up my truck. i feel bad for ya

you should try some compounding wax, then regular wax to pull them out.

they used to wet sand the new Dodges to get the Rail Dust off (but it did not go on HOT like Dbeef said)

my white 06 has tons of rail dust on it, and the dealer said DC won't cover wetsanding it off, but they will do it half price in their body shop.

you can try to 'clay' the truck paint. if you do, TAKE EXTREME CARE. this process can be awesome if done right--and even worse if done wrong. requires lots of patients. a good site to read about paint care and "claying" is " www. e38.org " it is a BMW enthusiast site, look on right side/down half way for car care. personally, if you've never clayed before i would have a good body shop do it. they may also have other less potentially harmful ways of resolving a issue with out the need for paint.
