Things to do with kids - Home Depot - 1st Sat of month

got to thinking about this from another post, figured get it out here in it's own post, feel free to post up anything else you think a fella can do with his kids.

i KNOW a ton of folks - whine about how SORRY kids are now a days - but they don't take time to work with kids, show them nothing. I could use some help with my youth group, their grand kids need time,

anyways, do something with your kids!

Home Depot,
first Saturday of each month
9 to 12
kids get: free apron, pin (some kids put pins on apron & have PLENTY - like VFW)

have to call store prior & sign up, then show up.

my local store has a Boy Scout troop come thru, so we schedule around them.

trying to get some fella's at the church to do a easy breakfast (frozen Jimmy Dean biscuits?) a quick lesson, and the church van up there.

take time to be a part of America. caring for each other, and taking time to help folks, is what makes America great,
and it makes good memories for you and the young'uns.

I remember my dad and I used to build lawn ornaments together and hang up christmas lights and we always put the tree up as a family and watch charlie brown christmas and home alone 1 and 2 together. I miss home. Sorry for getting nostalgic on ya.

ya, that Home Depot thing is nice. I went for the first time last Saturday. didn't need to call ahead, i actually was there with teh daughter and noticed it. get the orange apron, and made a little wooden box with a lid that opens and closes. they provide hammers and glue to assemble. my daughter is will be 3 in march, and she loved it. they set up some plywood on 5 gal pails, and you sit on 5 gal pails. i was impressed that a store does that.........i'll probably go every month.

exactly. i took 3 boys, 6yo, 8~9years old,

they had a BLAST, they are my buddy now. the jewelry box BR1 described was for Mom for Christmas. they gave me a 20 minute update on what their Mom thought of their box this week.

i took'em to Chick Fil A for breakfast, they thought they were "King For A Day"

they were pretty rowdy at church before, now when they see me, they straighten up and are all smiles.

supposed to be something to hang plastic bags on for January.

they did do me wrong though, made me stop at "the reptile store" so they could look at the snakes, bugs, turtles and lizards. Peee Uuuu stunk in there.

they wanted to hold & touch them all...Uh, i think we are behind schedule and NEED TO GO!!

I still play baseball and stuff with my kids. 4 year old and 8 year old. But the Home Depot thing sounds good.

Just got back from taking the kids. We got to build butterfly houses and have to say the girls loved it. Oh yeah there was a bonus for the big boys(dad) they had a Matt Kenseth Dewalt car there. It was the one they run at Daytona last year or so they say. But anyways fun for the whole family. Thanks for the idea.

I just spent the whole saturday " On duty " watching my 3 and 4 yr. old daughters while the wife was at a wedding. Instead of lounging in front of the t.v. watching Spongebob all day we went sled riding and then came in, ate lunch and then went on a Rhino ride in the snow until the little one fell asleep.
I think if you get your kids interested with outdoor activities early, they will always want to be outside. My girls can't stand to be inside for very long..

I take my daughter Horseback riding every Saturady morning and when we are finished with that we go to either Home Depot or Lowes, they have the same thing on the weeks Home Depot doesn't.
When she is finished with the project, she will come home and want to use my power finish sander to make it perfect.
She is like the way I was when I was a kid, not afraid of power tools.
