What happened to the original paint job? Was it defective?

The scratch X won't work at all. It might take very light scratches out (ones that only scratched the clear coat) but nothing else. Only thing I find that stuff is good for is a polishing compound.

If the scratches are all in the rocker panel area, you might consider having a bedliner material sprayed on the rockers to prevent that in the future.
I've seen a few done with the grey liner material that almost exactly matches the color of the bumper insert.

What worked on mine when I did something similar was Meguiar's Fine Cut cleaner. It says on the package that it's for rotary buffers, but it will still work when used by hand, it just takes a bit of elbow grease. I'm guessing that the scratch is only in the clear coat, so what you want to do is work mainly across the scratch if you can, to knock down the edges and blend them in.

cool .....thanks for the pointers .........gonna try em out, I think the scratches are just in the clear since they are a white color ......I'll find out I guess

the scratch runs right from front to back right through the middle of my fender flares, the door & the box .........

the box & flares is what ticks me off since I just got em painted less than a month ago
