I want to get a good CB and want to know yalls opinion on them are. I've had a Galaxy unit before and had great luck with it, just looking for some more voiced opinions. Thanks. cumminsboy
P.S.- Antenna's also

I've had a small Cobra (can't remember the model off hand), and currently have a Cobra 29 NW ST. It has worked great for me, no complaints. If you are looking for a really good radio, look into some older Unidens, they are tanks from what I have heard. I am also running Diesel brand antennas, two 3.5 footers and I have a SWR ratio pegged at 1 to 1.1
Works great for me. Whatever combo you get make sure to adjust the antennas to get the SWR ratio as close to 1 as possible, at least under 1.5 or you risk burning up your radio. 3 of my friends put radios in and never adjusted them and their radios don't even get out a mile away now
I've gotten about 17 miles out of mine so far and it is not bombed
yet.

Try and find a President HR2510 Ham/CB w/ a custom pined Cobra power mic and then a Wilson 1000 or 5000 depending on how much power you want to add. I've had mine for 8 years now and still smoke the airwaves as well as an occasional commercial phone system!

I like the Cobra brand radios.....with weather (helpful when traveling)....and the Firestick antenna's....I do run a little extra power so a Good Grade Coax is a must
I just retired my old black face Johnson. It’s a little hard to find a place to mount it in today’s trucks. Beside that I can’t find tubes for it anymore.
I found an old Cobra 23 channel in a garage sale, it will do every thing that I need, plus it’s a 10-watt unit.
