tyo tell you the truth i was suprised that they were as fair as they were when we took a few cars from work down there to get a offer. heck go buy and see what they will pony up on it. but i do belive it was a bit under trade in on the black book.

I've heard their good for very new cars or truck that people wanna trade in. But if its older then don't bother with carmax, i went to trade in my 95 2500 with a gasser and 130000 miles on it and they only wanted to give me about $1600 for it. I know when i went to see what they'd do i had a 10 yr old truck but it was still in Very good shape. I ended up trading it to the dealer i found my truck at for $4000. I'd still go check it out if i were you, it won't hurt to try.

i called they told me to figure out trade value on line, and expect "around that" which i took to mean slightly less.
but yes, they will get you out of it.
how you handle any negative equity is your problem, was my impression.
FWIW, my car was 20500 retail, and 15400 trade. that's $5k i would have just given them.

I bought this truck at Carmax...
I had a 99 Durango with only 37,000 miles on it.. They offered me 1000 under kelly blue book trade in.. told them if they didn't match KBB trade in or the deal was off..
They still gave me 1000 under KBB but took another 750 off the truck..
They truck was such a good deal I could not pass it up.. and they firmly told me this was highly unusual because they were no haggle on trades or purchases..
Sticker on the truck was 46,880 Got it for 36,075 in march of 05

I've got a buddy who sold a 04 Toyota truck to them and actually got more than he was trying to sell the truck for himself, needless to say he was very happy.
