Unhappy Bad News...Getting Rid of my Baby!

Well I had to make a very tough decision. Seeing how my truck cost me $1100 a month <payment $700, Insurance $175, and the rest in fuel> I decided to get rid of her. Since I still have almost 4 years to pay on her and theres no way I can afford her and go to school at the same time I am giving her up. So this week I will end up with something else. More than likely <bitin tongue> I will end up with a mid 90s Ford Diesel. Which isn't a bad thing since I have owned Fords all my life. Plus we have found them for around $7000 and my buddy that owns a dealership and is going to check the Tucson auction Tuesday and if he doesn't find nothing then the Phx auction Thursday and he can pick one up there for around $4000 or $5000. So needless to say I will no longer be a cummins owner. But in a few years once im done with school and have the truck paid off you can beat I will be searching for another cummins to buy. Just figured id let yall know whats been happening in my world. Hope all is well with everyone else.

I've noticed quite a few Cummins-Powered trucks in our classified section recently.
I understand the the price of fuel combined with other financial necessities in our lives may "persuade" us to make changes we'd rather not have to make.

Dodge, Ford, or Chevy........we never turned anyone away because of what they drive.

Am I the only one that see this resemblance?

Sorry to hear that Heather, but you don't have to leave us just because you don't have a CTD.
Good luck on finding yourself another truck.

Keep an eye on the DTR classifieds. There's a '92 ext. cab listed for under $2k (have to call to find out where it's located) and there often are other 1st & 2nd gen. truck for very reasonable prices.

Regardless, don't be a stranger.

Thanks guys and don't worry I won't be a stranger I will still stop in from time to time. The only reason I said that I will more than likely end up with a Ford is cus of the cost. We have been looking at Fords and Dodges and the prices of a Dodge is unreal, even older 2nd gens they want way to much with to many miles. Also since I will be getting something thats used a Ford is to my advantage cus my whole family is Ford diesel owners and my aunt n uncle can get parts at 10 over wholesale straight from frieghtliner cus of where they work. I will greatly miss my truck but the way I see it is whatever I end up with will serve its purpose and get me by while I go to school. Then once im outta nursing school I can turn around and buy another 2nd gen or a 3 gen cummins. Whoever ends up gettin my truck next will be lucky cus shes been very well taken care of and only has 56000 miles on her. Right now I feel like a lil kid on christmas morning, since I am unsure what we will find this week at the auction and what I will end up with the anticipation of not knowing is killin me. Once I get my new truck no matter what it is I will let yall know and I will still be around from time to time.

Don't let it bother you. You're still young. The lessons in life that stick are the ones we learn in the real world. Sounds like economics 101 to me. Trucks are like guys... they come and they go! Happy motoring.

omg did you just actually say trucks r like guys? No way, a truck is alot more reliable, dependable, will hardly ever let you down, and you can always make improvements to a truck lol. I will greatly miss my truck, but like you said economics 101. I figured I might as well get rid of my truck and get an education and get another truck later instead of the opposite since an education seems harder to achieve the older you get, even more so since I am going to go through nursing school and then turn around and put myself through school to become a large livestock vet so I have alot of years of school ahead.

As of today we still have not found another truck. The guy thats going to the auctions for me did pass up a mid 90s stroke extended cab 4x4 dually for 5500 which I woulda been happy with. So I have to call him today and see what is listed in phx for tomorrow and hopefully <crossing fingers> there is something there and he will go and bring me back a truck. I will keep all of you updated.
