Ropongi, you were'nt on the Tokyo Tower were you? Kinda like the Eifel Tower? I've been up on that once and there is a hard rock cafe near there, well back in 93' there was.
We used to hang out in Hiroshima all the time, never ran across anyone that would run and hide/lock the doors. We've been told "no geijin" when trying to go into a bar around Iwakuni, or "no foreigner".
I second Miajima Island although it is quite a trip even on the shinkansen from Tokyo. You climbed Mt.Fuji yet? My wife keeps telling me next time we go back to visit her parents she wants to do that. It's only 3776 meters.
