Dan I was looking at getting a cam but figured that i'd better spend the money on the cruddy steering setup I've got. Talked to keith today. Thanks bud!!

Hopefully with these 200+hp injectors I'm getting in this week I can at least play with the big boys. If not well then I'll just play with the smoke.

Rowland, I hate to say it but it looks like brian is gunning for you hard. I just wish I didn't have to get the billet shafts otherwise I'd have twins as well.

I can't afford to break my fishing pole, so I'll be generating a bunch of Virtual HP & Torque Theory...

Not too worried about stealing top N.Tex horsepower chair I imagine RJ will still have me beat with the cleaner injector and better designed twins (although mine cooled better in recent HG blowing tests j/k RJ)... He will always kill me with an auto (towing another story...drag racing, please.. by the time I get to 4th gear he will have finished the quarter....)

BigBlue getting new sticks?? If he could get an ounce of air to mix with that gallon of diesel he would be the MAN!!

These third gens with their magic boxes making 500hp with nothing else will be surpasing me fairly quickly.... lol

Would love a CAM!!! but somehow it got lost between the new springs and replaced guides!! PS anybody else replaced their guides or have had them checked?? Curious if this is common??

I think a set of prototype 2nd gen Lazarsmith ladder bars would be the ticket for my upgrades... I finally crossed the $$ modification threshold!!

BigBlue, could you send some of that $ your doing your mods with. I could use some more fuel going into my CP3.

Well I will hopefully be bringing a new face with me to the meet with a familiar truck. I have sold my truck due to me going to Japan, but I sold it to a guy I work with. I am bringing the truck to get numbers on it regaurdless but he might make the trip with me, if he can get off, and shake some hands and breath some diesel smoke with us.

WHAT! I can't believe you're letting a little time in Japan part you from that great looking truck!

You know that there are several of us that would take care of it for you. I'd be more then happy to drive it every day and dyno it a few times a year.

Seriously, I hate to hear that, but you gotta do what ya gotta do. See you next month.

Figures.... Mo $$.... $25 a guide to put in new hardened steel guides... Go do that math and let me go again!!

Dont forget to add that to the $1295 for the deck, oring, valve job, MAG check, etc...
Oh ya and another $700 for some bouncy springy thingamajigs...

Discouraging... Time to park the truck and drive the yota for a while ... O wait the truck has been parked for 2.5 weeks now.. Need comforting...

Seriously, that sux about the valve guides!!! I know our trucks are gonna make us all go broke!!!! I could easily spend 10K more on my truck and still not be done with it!!

Brian, I figure that with 200+hp injectors if I can't make the 500hp mark I can at least have the smoke to make it look like I do. The valve guides I've heard are a common thing to go wrong. Don't worry. The 3rd gen heads are even worse in terms of durability than ours are.

Matt, all I can say is you just gotta know how to work the numbers.

Yea I know, I meet you guys, do alot of learning, and get my truck exactly where I want it and then I have to sell it. IT SUCKS! I just can't justify paying the payment on it for 2-3 years while I am gone, even though I know some NorTex members would make sure that "I" got my money out of those payments.

Confused. Thought guides were part of the block (head)? Are they replacable 'sleeves' or do they ream it out? If reamed out, as I thought, do they install sleeves???

None of this was an issue on mine cause I blew my gasket early (25,000 miles).

Valve guides, so part of the head... I believe they have to be machined out, but not positive... I'll know in a couple of days.. Apparantly what they are going to be replaced with are a much harder steel that wont wear... We will see (actually we probably wont as I dont plan on removing my head again anytime soon )
