It's great to see that we will be well represented at the dyno.

I'm real tempted to put mine on the rollers to see how many HP my new antifreeze and thermostat added.

Have you dyno'd since you got the Smarty?? Your sig still shows the Mustang numbers from Emory right?

That antifreeze and tstat will have to add something too!!!!

That will probably be the extent of my "wrenching" for this coming meet too. And, hopefully I will be pulling a new (to me) 2004 Weekend Warrior FS 2600 Toy Hauler there to test out.

Anybody interested in a 1996 KZ Sportsmen 22' 5th wheel, full self contained, 1 year of ext. warranty remaining, 2 bunks + queen bed, half ton pullable???

Well guys just going to give an update on the head... They had five cummins heads to get checked last week and mine was the ONLY one to not be cracked!! Only one to pass MAG check... So now they have a total of about 10 24V heads sitting waiting for a dumpster!! They refuse to work on them there, say there is really no point on dumping money on an already failed head... (Saw one head that blew a gasket at a supposedly 52psi, no head studs that had a total of 11 cracks!! Only 99k on the head!!)

My head will be cut on Monday, was hoping for today but just didn't happen... Don't have time to install NEways..

Head was off .010 to .011 in the center (low spot), should be fixed to .0005 of course my block will still be off!! Don't really know if I want to check it or not..

So it should get decked, oringed, and valve job (keeping stock valves because of towing, but cutting the seats differently to allow for more flow, was very interesting) Monday and the springs should be set up and the head finished on Tues.

Also plan on stopping by Cummins to pick up a new thermostat while everything is torn apart..

Good info, Brian!

Did they say whether it would be a 3 or 5 angle valve seat cut?

It'd be great if you could spend an hour or two with the head and a carbide die grinder...

Great news on no cracks!!
Levelness actually sounds pretty good. May have told you before, I've heard from guys that bgt NEW Cummins heads that were off up to .017, from the factory. Fine for stock but....?

Sounds like you took a trip up there? Any info on the model years on those 10 24v scrapped heads. Just curious if the reports of stronger heads in the 01's & newer are valid?

Good Luck...sounds like your having it.

Not sure on the ones checked last week but when I went up there to drop it off they had 4 or 5 that were cracked.. I know of two 99s and a 00, but the others I'm not sure... Mine's not though!!

Makes me feel better about mine. Although I'm pretty sure that my head has been a lot hotter than yours and is about to get a LOT hotter. Keep us updated brian.

Brian.....see if you can score me a head to just play with if they will let you......I don’t need valves or springs and such.....Would be a good base for a twin build and intake project i got my eye on.........

HAHA...i might be the only guy with twins, stock clutch and just Mach 2's in the world! haha......but im not going for radical...just a VERY tight setup.....Rowland’s BD's have inspired me somewhat......

Brian, see if you can score a couple of junk heads for me, so I can make a weight rack for the front end... we can't turn loose of the tractor weights out at the ranch, since they get used too much.
