Better start spelling millwright properly, or we won't let you in!

It was a bit iffy, mopeds on the cuban roads isn't much fun when there is traffic getting ready to mow you down.

Anyone have a snap-on truck at work? Could someone find out what the price is on a timing set?

Hey Tate

Go online to Snap-on and check. It will give you an idea and the trucks usually will beat the price.

Yowza, $300. Maybe I will just continue trying to rig up my own tools then.

Tate,

Buy a timing set! Then you can bump up my timimg @ the next GTG! LOL Kinda tacky and shameless of me eh. I have been kicking around the idea of buying one for myself for years....... MDKRam did mine to 15.5 for me many years ago. Don't know if I need more.

Does Mac make a p7100 timing set too? I looked in their catalouge but didn't find one. Anyone know for sure. I've got a timing light adapter for #1 injection tube from mac. but I can still get %50 off mac tools till Monday or so. $300 for that timing set sounds very reasonable because........... In the last week I spent just under $6k with Mac, well the roll cab was 40% of that. but that's 50% already off

I have their catalogue that I picked up at SAIT, all I saw in there was a barring tool. I've got a metric dial, and I heard you can get a couple different length extentions to screw in the end of it. I can make my own holder. I've got a buddy that can machine me up a gear puller, and I'll just have to buy the barring tool and DV socket. I don't really want to use vice grips on that. Is 10mm travel on the dial enough for the timing, or do I need a 20/25mm dial?

I would think a 10mm dial would be ample once you have the right plunger length on it. If you can make the delivery valve adapter, you are set.

They say that an oil pan plug is the same diameter and thread pitch. Just happens I have one in the basement. Maybe I'll yank the top off on of the barrells and see what I can do.

Tate...Cummins sells a tool kit meant for oil changes/valve adjustments...includes a proper oil filter wrench, a good ratchet (KD Tools), 6 inch extension, feeler guage, screwdriver, barring tool and a couple of other things I cant remember....let me know if youre interested...I could maybe snap a pic of mine and get you a p/n. I believe it was around $85 or so.
