wiring for brake control

Question wiring for brake control

hi i tried putting this question in the rv towing section but got no responses.mayybe it will do better here.i have a 01 5spd base model 4x4.i dont have the tow package or anything.i looked under the dash and found a 2 prong plug.the colors on the wires corospond with the wires comming off the brake switch.is this my brake controll wires?i tried testing them with my tester,got no power to each with the brakes on.did i do something wrong?do i need a special fuse?also i found a wire comming out from the harness near the spare tire and it has 12 volts when the brakes are applied.whats that one for?ive already installed my 7 plug conector to the signals and brake lites and they work fine.any help would be great guys.

My 95 came with no tow pak I know of. However there is a med blue single wire under the dash to the left of the colum (i think it was) for the signal to the brake controller. This will get 12v when the brakes are applied. You will still need to run a separate 12v power and ground for the controller.

apache, 95 did not come from the factory with the controler plug so yours is different than duallydave. duallydave you will need to find a light blue connector that is taped up under the dash by the ebrake. it will contain four wires that will serve as ground, signal, power, and brake. Be careful to read your instructions with your controller and don't asume that they get connected color for color ie red to red, black to black and so forth. We have had many guys do this and they have blown up thier controller. You can get the other end of the harness at most any trailer supply store.
