Shut down solenoid plunger tip got torn off, don't sweat it, it happens to quite a few of us.
For now you can use the mechanical lever on the side of the pump top. Going to look silly popping the hood to shut it down, but it will work.

Its on the injection pump, right on the side of the pump. There's only 2 levers on the injection pump, 1 is the throttle, the other is the shutdown lever.
Directly below the high speed stop.

Nope. Just unscrew it. Hack off the bracket that's in the way for better wrench access.

There's a write-up in the 1st gen sticky that tells how to reface the plunger. It'll work as long as it's not too far gone.

Ok, here's a good pic of the pump...

https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...36DSC06325.jpg

Wannadiesel wasn't trying to be funny, he seriously knows his stuff, listen to everything he tells you, right? :-) He meant you can remove some of the excess metal of the throttle bracket on the truck(not shown here) to gain better access to the solenoid(the brass button-looking thing above the fuel lines at the rear of the pump). The manual shutdown lever is the T-shaped lever on the driver's side of the pump; rotating it CCW will kill the motor. The guys that attach a manual cable(like a common manual choke on a carburetor) instead of repairing/replacing the solenoid are known as members of the 'pull cable club'. lol Hope that helps some, good luck!! :-)

i know wannadiesel was telling me how to do it, i just had no clue what it was that i needed to hack off or unscrew, is there anything electrical that could go wrong with this, any fuses or solenoids anywhere that could go bad before i unscrew that ungodly placed thing haha.

Pushing the accelerator.

It probably won't tear again now that the excess rubber is gone.
