97 auto- pop then absolutly no electrical
97 auto- pop then absolutly no electrical
Symptoms leading up to failure:
1)several mornings of hard starting @ 45*f even after new fuel filter and oil.
2)turned over/wouldn't start- then went to cycle pre start/start again and "pop"....... then total electrical silence- no power anyplace.
While waiting for responses will be checking/cleaning battery terminals, engine ground, starter connections.
Fuses looked good so far...
Thanks
Big Jimmy

Problem solved- oh no spoke too soon. I think there is a short to the starter someplace
Well, so much for POS re manufactured starters from NAPA. The starter is alright, but the rubber used to cover/shield the copper wire that loops from the contacts (I think) to the top of the unit (on its outside)had cracked so much that it was shorting to itself. Now this starter is less than 2 years on the truck. They WILL be making it right on the fix, which is a better rubber insulator.
Later: they gave me a new starter.
