I have been thinking about all you said when I was on the phone with you I would bet that it is the fuel filter. You said it was down on power and seemed lazy then just died I bet it is starving for fuel. Remember when you do try the new fuel filter that you may need to bleed the injectors to get her going again you will need a 17mm wrench. Good luck man!!!

thanks bill, i got a ride home and OK'd it with the locals/police to leave my truck overnight.

I couldn't get the fuel filter off for the life of me. I decided to leave it for tomorrow morning when i can use a filter wrench. Then i'll toss that in the trash and put the RC filter on until i get a new one. Also the WIF sensor plug was dismembered, is there anywhere i can get a new-to-me one?

thanks again!

Make sure the shutoff solenoid is connected.

Cummins, Dodge, or Geno's garage can get you a new WIF sensor.

Update:
Napa couldn't get me one today... so i went to her little brother, bob, at Bobs Auto. They had me one in 2hours... took 20 minutes to flush the water and prime fuel system. Getting the old filter off was the hardest, i don't think that was removed in years.

I can't believe how much of a difference that new fuel filter made. My fuel pressure must have always been really restricted because i'm on the brink of runaway now and have much more oomph and black smoke at all rpms.

thanks for the help

i'm currently looking into installing a remote water separator(or two ), something with a glass/clear bowl. So i'm able to see the junk that gets in there(and water). Also, i'll hook up that fuel pressure gauge i have. To keep this kind of preventable, inconvenience from happening again!

Yeah, i see you splurged for the Racor I was looking at a cheapo that can use many brand filter elements, but i will be carrying extra from now on.

How bad did it have to be to not burn? I think after mine seperated i had maybe 2qts total of watery fuel come out before i got the "gooder" stuff. From there i diesel 911, deisel treatement and 5 gallons of fresh diesel. I read that it reduces emissions......but i can't see the results...

Thanks, i am glad it wasn't something more complicated to fix with basic hand tools i would have been troubled in the lukoil parking lot.

Does anybody know how long it takes for the painted writing to actually fall off the filter? It was changed atleast once, there are plier markes on the WIF sensor and the wires were pulled out of the connector end instead of disconnecting with a screw driver or some other object.
