Angry Truck Died On The Way Home

I haven't posted on here in awhile but I am in need of some assistance.

I started my truck at work this afternoon to head home and I let the wait to start light go off and I cranked it over but it took a little bit to start. It was idling rough so I shut it off and started it back up and it was still a little off but better. I drove about 10 miles and I left a stop sign and when it got in 3rd gear it fell on its face and then got back into it again. It was fine untill about 5 minutes from my house which was 45 minutes after the first problem. It started cutting out and finally just died and I was able to make it into a parking lot.

I checked my water seperator and fuel came out but I don't hear my fuel pump kick on when I bump the starter. I have the Airdog 150 and its only about 1 1/2 years old so I'm not sure if its the pump or the relay. I haven't been able to check the plug for power yet because I was able to get a ride home to post this question but not able to get a ride back to my truck yet.

Thanks for any help I am able to get.

Let's KISS this one. (Keep It Simple Stupid!)
You need to make sure the LP is working. What's the FP?
Was there any white smoke out the tail pipe?
CEL on?

I got rid of my Edge and I never got a gauge to replace for the fuel pressure. There was no white smoke and there are no codes in the truck.

I don't hear the pump turn on when I bump my key so I figured it was the pump motor itself.

The truck is still in the parking lot where it came to rest and I wasn't able to make it out to test anything. I found a relay that looked the same at Pep boys ( its the only thing around me that was still open) but it was a flasher relay and I wasn't sure if there is a difference in them so I didn't try it.

Jumper across the Airdog relay and make sure the lift pump works... first things first... Let us know what the airdog is doing and we can go from there

Well it seems that my Airdog motor took a crap on me and I would like to find one as soon as I can because I need my truck so I can get to work. I called up Tech at Airdog and because it blew the fuse 3 times now and they said the brushes are probably bad.

I'm using a couple of stock campaign pumps on the frame,
they are designed to let fuel thru if they fail. therefore the engine will not die, but the fuel pressure will drop to nothing Name: P1010161-1.jpg

I took the pump off and pulled the 2 bolts out of the motor to look at the brushes and it was flooded with diesel fuel and grime.

Not a good looking picture the brushes have lots of meat on them and the commutator looks ok from what little i can see of it.

Looks like your problem was caused by the lack or failure of sealing to the motor area .

You should be able to clean things up and get it running again use some red scotch bright on the commutator if it has arced just polish it up. Make sure everything is clean and dry it should go unless the armature has shorted windings.

Don't have that problem with my walbro 392 pump. And it is priced reasonable enough that i can carry a spare as well as change it on the road side very easy if need be = no walking home or getting towed.

Johnh,

What kind of pressures to you see from running those in series on your beast ?
Do you have any regulator after them and did you increase your return line size?
