truck died going down rd

truck died going down rd

new to this site. 2001 dodge ram cummins 74000 miles. p 1693
turned corner and truck died towed home and is setting in driveway. checked codes key on off trick. and got code. can hear lift pump running. cranks but won't start. probally will tow to work tommorrow any help would be great.

1693 is the code telling you there is a code.

More than likely, it will only show itself to the DRB Scantool at the Dodge Dealership.
Being you are under 100,000 miles, the problem might be covered under warranty.

Other than that, are you sure you didn't run out of fuel?

Check for more codes. Especially 0216. Did you wait till the miles show back up in the odo windo?
Could be the injection pump. VP-44

I don't know but I have similar problem with 94 dodge and I just run garden hose on fuel pump for a minute and it takes off and runs fine

Somebody can correct me if I'm wrong but I believe cold water on hot injector pumps of any type (P pump / VP44 / etc.) is bad juju. It's neither an good diagnostic tool nor a good corrective action.

Cold water is an absolute kiss of death to any warm or hot diesel fuel injection pump!

duh I put water on lift pump ,temp wasmaybe 80 degrees at most
